What is a Flat Fee MLS Referral Site?
A flat fee MLS referral network is a website that generates leads for local flat fee MLS agents. They are all over the web and most come with some major disadvantages.
Identifying a Flat Fee MLS Referral Website
These sites often display a United States map. You click the state where you want to list your property. Once you click on the state where you want to list your FSBO listing and they present you with a Pricing Plan options. You can pick from a 3 month, 6 month, 12 month etc. Each plan has a different price and features which is a bit ridiculous. For example, for $299 you may get up to 12 photos (Max on MLS is 30 photos)
You do not get to see the listing agreement before you pay. You will not know who the real estate agent is who will be representing your home until after you pay. There are many bad things about using a referral service, the worst part is probably the fact that you do not know who you are dealing with. They could be an agent who is taking calls for your home and trying to convert them into their own buyers. Of course, they will not admit to this but if not transparent (showing agreement before you pay) it is pretty safe to say they can’t be trusted.
